Octave regions are the areas bounded by pairs of lower and upper root notes. Below, every green note is higher in pitch than the lower root, but lower in pitch than the upper root. The lowest octave regions are green, then blue, and so on in order to contrast visually with the root colors. You should see the red root as the lowest note, followed by the green region, then the orange E one octave higher. Shown is an E chromatic scale. Find and play all the notes in the green region on the E, A and D strings. See how many ways you can play the E chromatic scale within each octave region. The next octave region is colored light blue. Study and play the notes in this region.
