Tuning the Guitar

Tuning the guitar to Standard Tuning sets up Lines of Equal Pitch. Notes that are the same in pitch (equal in frequency), lie along lines that slice through the guitar. Below is a full 24 fret diagram illustrating the notes we tune to, and lines of equal pitch. Notice that the purple E line (the higher E) leads back to the 24th fret. This is 2 octaves higher than the lowest E (in red). Also notice that the purple E line cuts the guitar diagonally in half.
